Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 vs Piaget Polo S Automatic: it's on! In 2016, Piaget shocked watch buyers with a sub-$10,000 luxury watch that looked like a genetic splice of a Patek Philippe Nautilus and a Patek Philippe Aquanaut. The result continues to inflame the opinions of watch collectors and watch enthusiasts.

Patek's Nautilus 5711 needs no introduction, but here goes; 40mm in stainless steel; introduced at Baselworld 2006; 120-meters water resistant; powered by a 40-hour power reserve Patek Philippe caliber 324 automatic movement; equipped with a full stainless steel bracelet; entirely hand finished inside and out. Today's silver dial model launched at Baselworld 2012.

The Piaget Polo S Automatic will be less familiar to regular watch buyers and watch collectors. This Piaget watch is a sporting 42mm steel all around mens watch with 100-meter water resistance, a Cartier-based automatic caliber 1110P with 48-hour power reserve, and a bracelet that bears and uncanny resemblance to the one seen on Patek Philippe's Aquanaut 5167/1A-001. But, in its defense, the Piaget Polo S costs $9,900 new and $7,500 pre-owned; Patek's 5711 costs $29,800 new and sells for as much as $50,000 pre-owned.

Patek Philippe vs Piaget is the battle of the day; let us know which watch makes the most sense to you. Is it the Piaget for $7,500 pre-owned or the Nautilus for almost $50,000 pre-owned?

The Piaget Polo S features a 42mm stainless steel case surrounding a grey dial on a stainless steel bracelet with folding buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds and date. The watch also measures 9.4mm in thickness and 47mm from lug-to-lug.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus Date Sweep Seconds features a 40mm stainless steel case surrounding a silver embossed dial on a stainless steel bracelet with folding buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds and date. The watch also measures 8.6mm in thickness and 44.5mm from lug-to-lug.
